As most of you know, while in Mackay for the Whitsunday Voices youth literature festival I was interviewed at the local radio station, ABC Tropical North. I got to have a chat with the delightful morning show host, Aaron Stevens, who was incredibly welcoming and enthusiastic. We talked all about the festival and the importance of books in children’s lives, and also discussed some of my work. If you’re prepared to lose 6 minutes of your life that you’ll never get back then feel free to listen below (by the way, the images are of the Mackay beach side suburb I grew up in):
Those astute listeners will have picked up on my clumsy plug for this blog…
You legend, you. You sound fabulous. Very engaging. Loved it. And I didn’t think the plug was clumsy at all. I thought you expertly slipped it in in just the right place. Very well done.
Thanks Lynn. And the plug was more clumsy because I gave the wrong address! (I’ve named so many things using variations of ‘rabbit’ over the years that I said the wrong one)
Had a good chuckle at myself.
Great job, Kath! So proud of you :-)
That was really good, Katherine. You sounded so confident and relaxed in true Mackay style!
Sheryl :)
Thanks girls! You’re so good to me…
Go you Kath! Very relaxed and well spoken. The presenter did a great plug at the end too. I’m off to check your website now :)
Hope you liked it Angela! That reminds me, I should probably go update it…
Heh Kath,
I haven’t actually HEARD all your interview yet. Started the other night, but got stuck about 1/4 way through, and now it’s even slower. I’m going to listen to it in town – on my sister’s fast broadband. (It’s zipping, whereas mine chugs.)
The bit I heard was super-dooper cool and relaxed. You’re already a star!
Thanks Kat – sorry it’s so slow. Might be my influence. I’ll try to talk faster next time :)
Got you this time, Kath. A great interview – as relaxed and entertaining on the radio as in life and on the page. Well done. (And you didn’t even need to talk faster! :) )
